The Challenge

During this year’s festival, Digital Shoreditch asked everyone ‘what do we need?’

The answer: “More connection. Local connection. We want a defining Source.”

Digital Shoreditch needed a way to showcase everyone’s talents and capabilities right across this flourishing side of the city and far beyond, to the people that can make a real difference. A way to give everyone involved maximum exposure to the people that can utilise their talent and services, across the world.

Our Approach

We have over ten years experience in developing social applications, we tailor make each project to our clients specifications. We engage with clients to help them understand how social applications can help solve their problem in a multi-player online environment.

What we did

The Shoreditch Source is an online directory of all the digital creative companies in Shoreditch, but it is no ordinary directory. It utilizes gamification mechanisms to encourage participation, exploration, and monetization of the platform.

Users are invited to sign up and create a community avatar with only a few default options available, so to stand out from everyone else, users need to unlock different colours and sizes through discovery or by buying credits.

There are many hidden rewards floating around the directory universe, and as users explore the world, they unlock bonuses, which in turn encourage them to ‘level-up’ their ad and continue playing.

  • Users can make their ad standout by implimenting special features such as size, colour, speed and animation.
  • Hidden rewards encourage users to explore the platform and ultimately discover new businesses and contacts.
  • It provides exposure for users, meaning more customers. As this version is focused on a particular area, it is easy for visitors (and users) to see other companies in their local area, providing opportunities to network and see the competition.
